Hemangioma

Abstract
Hemangiomas are the most common benign tumor of infancy, with an overall incidence of 10%, and as high as 25% in premature infants. They are more common in females than males.
Hemangioma, is pathologically classified as capillary hemangioma, cavernous hemangioma, and mixed type. It is pathologically benign tumor but according to its location, ugly deformity or fatal complication may be ensue. About 85% of hemangioma occurs within a year after birth. Over 50% of all hemangioma is located on the head and neck. 70% of them disappear before 6 or 7 years of age spontaneously without any trace.
For that reason operation for complete surgical removal is usually performed after that age unless severe deformity or fatal complication appears. There are many methods for treatment of hemangioma. Same methods of treatment took different results in similar types of hemangioma. Because of cosmetic reason, there is no single perfect method of treatment for hemangioma on face. Therefore it must be chosen deliberately.
Brief review of hemangioma is added.
